Jeff Read is Altek's Production Print Specialist. Jeff came to Altek with 31 years of experience in production printing. The first 13 years, Jeff worked at ‘hands on’ positions in the print shop side of the industry. Jeff has experience with a vast amount of equipment and software. Equipment: Xerox, Canon, Ricoh, Kodak, Heidelberg, Nexpress, wide-format, Hitachi, Oce, HP, and Lexmark. Software: Alto, Fiery, RSA, Solimar, Planetpress, Printshop Mail, Micropress, Digital Storefront, ECopy, Uniflow, Netaphor’s Siteaudit, FM Audit, Imageware, and Freeflow.

Jeff began his career with Kinko's, working there for a total of over six years. He originally began in Princeton NJ, became General Manager of Philadelphia 1 at U Penn, the Frazer, PA location, and served as the Regional Trainer for the Greater Philadelphia area. Jeff then worked with Dynamic Printers as Manager of their Digital Division where he helped create their digital copy center using Xerox production devices. In 1998, Jeff went into partnership with Aztec Copies in Wilmington, DE, opening his store on Concord Pike, purchasing and working with Xerox Docutech and Canon CLC equipment.

Eventually, Jeff began working with manufacturers directly to support the Production Print Industry. He began this stage of his career as a Production Analyst with Canon in the Philadelphia region, next becoming a Production Printing Specialist with Ricoh in the Marlton NJ area, and then the Production Print Solutions Analyst for the Baltimore, MD and Wilmington, DE area.

Jeff also worked with Alto Imaging as an Integration Specialist, covering the Eastern half of the US, based out of Oxford, PA, where he consulted with a wide assortment of industries on content management, web submission, and scan make ready solution packages.

Jeff’s experience includes consultation with all manner of industries to include: Legal, K-12 and higher Education, Pharma, Manufacturing, Insurance, Food Service, local, state and federal Government, Print Houses, and Health Care. Jeff has designed and implemented production solutions for Commercial Printers, in-house print shops (CRDs), and data centers in all of these environments.

Before coming to Altek, Jeff most recently worked with Canon Solutions America as a Technology Operations Specialist, where he managed a printer fleet for a Global Pharmaceutical Company with 9 locations in the US. The fleet comprised of over 300 MFDs where he maintained uniFLOW print management, interfaced with incident management system, and solved printing issues.

With knowledge in Xerox, Canon, Ricoh, Kodak, Heidelberg, Hitachi, HP, Lexmark, Alto, Fiery, RSA, Solimar, Planetpress, Printshop mail, Micropress, Digital Storefront, ECopy, Uniflow, Netaphor’s Siteaudit, Imageware, and Freeflow, there is very little Jeff doesn't know about production print.

Jeff and his wife currently reside in East Nottingham Township, PA with their four children, one dog, and two cats. In his spare time, he is a guitarist with a band called Mid-Life Crisis and enjoys Frisbee Golf in his spare time.

One of the more interesting facts about Jeff is that his name isn't actually Jeff, but Thomas Jefferson Read, and he is a direct descendant of one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence and Constitution, George Read of Delaware.
